Gyeongju The Beach Stay

Overall it felt old (don't trust the photos) and I was shocked. I was assigned a first-floor room and it was freezing from drafts; the floor was cold. I was too tired so I just washed up and slept. In the morning I got water on my hands and put soap on, then turned on the sink and dark muddy/rusty water came out. I was surprised. I tried the shower and it was the same. The bathroom tiles were dark so I could not see the water color, but luckily the sink was white so I could check. I had showered the night before... did I wash with sewage water...? Very gross and unsettling. When I called to ask for a room change, they told me to shower in an unused room on the second floor that had not been cleaned. No apology. ("What can I do for you?"...) What a ridiculous response. I paid 80,000 won for peak season and left feeling disgusted and in a bad mood. The staff were unfriendly and the response was disappointing. I will never go back.

I never expected such a place to exist in such a prime ocean-view location. It felt like a waste of money; I couldn't stay and left immediately.*

Parking was convenient and the sea was wide open, so I had a pleasant stay.

Do not be fooled by the photos, everyone... This is a typical cover-up scam. They categorized room grades but only showed the good photos first. If you scroll down the photos you'll see pictures that look like an old inn room — that's the room you get! The room is overall very worn... The bathroom seems to have been remodeled but the faucet is heavily rusted, and the door does not lock... Also, the water feels slippery no matter how much you rinse, which is very unpleasant since it shouldn't be hot spring water. The bed is very hard, the towels are thin so they don't dry well, there are stains as if they were not properly washed, and the flooring is split. And where nowadays is there a room without OTT streaming? Apparently here. The front door lock is old so it does not lock automatically; you have to press a button to lock it? I stayed because there were no other rooms nearby during the holiday, but... I have never seen a room like this before... Go to another pension next door instead!!!

The beach is close, so the view was great! I will use it again next time ^^

The view is fantastic since it's right by the sea. The facilities are outdated. It would be better if they remodeled and charged a bit more.

The room was nice and the owner was friendly.
