It's a tteokbokki in the style of kkuddeok, but the timing is off, so the seasoning isn't absorbed properly and a lot of red pepper powder is stuck to the tteok.

Seokgye Station Snack Bar Oppa Saenggak The most famous tteokbokki restaurant near Seokgye Station. Self-proclaimed tteokbokki fanatic Super Junior's Kyuhyun calls it his No. 1 tteokbokki restaurant, and after trying it, I think I understand. I had it with fried dumplings, and despite the late hour, it was surprisingly refreshing. The sauce, with its moderately spicy, sour, and sweet flavor, is addictive.

The tteokbokki sauce is tasty, but it doesn't penetrate the rice cakes deeply, leaving a slightly superficial feeling. It's not particularly impressive, but it's decent for a street food stall. However, the rice cakes are a bit chewy, and it doesn't live up to the hype. It's not something I'd go out of my way to buy again.

"The kind and generous Seokgye Station Tteokbokki Mother" This stall sold delicious-looking tteokbokki, but for some reason, I couldn't just pass it by, so I ordered it to go. The tteokbokki had a strong flavor, but the refreshing spiciness of the Cheongyang chili peppers was refreshing, and the sweetness wasn't sticky, which was nice. It wasn't like corn syrup, but the balance of spiciness and sweetness was just right, which was a nice touch. The slightly thick wheat tteok gave it a chewy yet firm texture. This flavor combination felt a bit odd at first, but it became addictive the more I ate, so I definitely want to try it again. The fried food was generous and filling. PS: It wasn't that late in the evening, but they gave me a huge portion for one person. It was enough for two people at other places, so the other mother who was packing it up asked why I had so much. Haha.

Tteokbokki Wheat rice cakes that taste like rice cakes? More chewy? The variety of fried food is great. This is definitely the place where ugly people go best. The tteokbokki sauce seems decent. You might need to be careful when there are a lot of fruit flies. Many of them will rush into the tteokbokki, so I recommend eating while defending yourself. They put the fried food in a bowl and hand it to you. You take a seat and wait. Then, you pay and eat. First-timers might feel unfriendly when ordering, but they greet you warmly when you leave. It's not unfriendly, but it's a bit tsundere. The fried food dipped in tteokbokki sauce is great.
