Jeonju Traditional Liquor Museum

A museum dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional Korean liquors, including gayangju—a type of home-brewed alcohol once made in households across the country. While each family had their own unique brewing methods, the tradition was lost for over a century due to suppression during the Japanese occupation. This museum works to revive and share that cultural heritage. Inside, you’ll find exhibits and sales of famous traditional liquors from all over Korea, along with displays of brewing tools and processes that showcase the history in detail. There are also hands-on programs like “Make Your Own Gayangju,” where you can brew and take home your own liquor, and a free tasting event where you can sample various types of gayangju. It’s a great place to both learn and experience Korean traditional alcohol culture.
